Wedding Shoes: Making Them Fit Comfortably

One of the most tasks aspects in making your wedding day the most memorable day of your life is wearing the right kind of wedding shoes. By “right,” we mean a comfortable feel aside from beautiful looks. But what if, after breaking in, your shoes are still somewhat uncomfortable. Your big day is only a few days away, and you don’t have sufficient time to return the footwear or purchase a new pair? What should you do?

Problem: The material is quite stiff or rough.
Solution: Simply get used wearing them. Sometimes, this is just the effect of the shoes conforming to your feet’s shape and form. Another method to make them softer is to manually flex the shoe, especially the toe and heel area.

Problem: Your heel keeps slipping off the shoe.
Solution: Sometimes, the size of the shoes may be correct but the footwear’s back just won’t fit your heel. In some cases, the slipping may be so extreme that the shoe painfully chaffs the skin of your heel. Both these problems can be solved by adding cushions or pads to the heel of the shoe.

Problem: Your shoe keeps on slipping every time you take a step.
Solution: This problem most likely stems stems from the sole lacking the much needed traction. While you can rough up the sole a little bit by rubbing sandpaper, a better way is to take your shoes to the cobbler and have him attach rubber soles. Aside from providing traction, rubber soles can be replaced when they wear out.

Problem: There is immense pressure at the balls of your feet.
Solution: High-heeled shoes can exert enormous pressure on the balls of your feet. Solve this problem by adding padded insoles to absorb the shock.

Problem: Your feet suffer from painful blisters and raw skin.
Solution: Rub your feet with petroleum jelly to reduce chaffing.
